CLUNCH MAGAZINE CC
Burwell Museum &
Windmill
Thank you to everyone who got in touch
with us following last months article,
helping us to put names to the faces in the
photos. This time we have two more photos
do you know what the celebration was
outside of The Gardiner Memorial / date and
who is this man?
During the last couple of months, we have
taken delivery of the Hurrell Butchers signs
which are now safely installed in our Vintage
Vehicle building next to the Hurrells last
shop van. Thank you to both Henry Hurrell
and the new owner of the shop for making
that happen.
We have also received visitors from America
who were related to The Stevens family,
who were the last family who operated the
Mill. Commercially. They brought with them
their Family Bible and some blueprints of the
mill.
Burwell Museum is oOered items all the time
but as a reminder, our ethos is to tell the
story of local fen edge living so the item
needs to be from Burwell if possible. If you
are unsure if your item would be of interest,
just drop us an email with a photo to
museum@burwellmuseum.org and we will
get back to you. We would like to thank
everyone who has donated to us so far this
year.
Our next event is the Classic Car ShowZ1HZ
the Sunday 25th August 2024 check out
our website nearer the time for details of the
event.
We are sadly losing our Front of House and
Event Manager at the end of this year and
we are therefore looking to recruit someone
to Fll both these roles.
As Front of House Manager, you would be
looking after the days we are open to the
public. You would be managing our superb
Front of House Volunteer team covering the
admissions kiosk, mill tours and Tea Room.
You would be responsible for sourcing and
managing the food and drink for the Tea
Room, along with any items that we sell in
the shop. Food Hygiene experience would
be preferred but not essential. You would be
a keyholder for the Museum, and be
required to be on site on as many of our
open days as possible, but especially on
event days working with the Event Manager
to make these a success.
You would report directly into the Trustees
and would be expected to either attend or
provide a report to the Trustees for their
monthly meetings.
As Event Manager, you would be required to
put together a programme of events for
sign oO by the Trustees. Arrange and
manage those events on an agreed budget
in co-ordination with the Front of House
Manager. We currently hold 1 event per
month during the Museums open season,
along with arranging for School Holiday
activities. You would also report in to the
Trustees.
In addition to these two roles, we are also
looking for people to join the Trustee team
looking after the Museum. It is a rewarding
position but the current very small team are
